All through out history, every major medical and scientific breakthrough has been ridiculed, attacked, and eventually accepted.

When you consider the average lifespan of a man back in the 1600's was 35 to 40, one could make the argument that when we found new medicines and vitamins which extended the lifespan to 75-80, that we would have over population and so on, but we adapted. That is what we has humans do and excel in.

From the religious point of view I agree with Albert Einstein. "I refuse to believe that the same god who has endowed use with intelligence, imagination and free will has intended us to forgo their use."

We have the means to adapt to an ever growing population. We for the first time in known history can leave this planet and travel to new ones. It is a fact that it would be easy to adapt certain areas on Mars that we could live on, as well as the recent discovery of water on the moon!

Yes it would create some challenges having our aging process halted. It would however solve far more than it creates. Just imagine...

1) Not becoming a old burden on your family.
2) Being able to remain fit throughout your life
3) The wisdom that comes with age and the physical youth to appreciate it.
4) Not worrying about the everyday aches and pains of age.

And above all remember... Every major breakthrough has been attacked for one reason or another. But Science always wins out over the fear of change and those who frowned upon it are always remembered as small minded cowards.... How will you be remembered?

Yea, Ok. So I am completely open-minded on cell reproduction in the body without degeneration. "anti-aging" However.. consider it causing lack of growing older "properly" for children and people who haven't fully matured. Cells have to split and grow again for healing of injuries so there's another. Mutations? Let's not go there. And how will this effect cancerous cells? I don't even want to begin listing the man facets it could trigger. Well, the list goes on for those of you/us that understand that... I realize fully that this is just in the infant stages of the discovery and development; but these are topics and concerns surely worth discussing throughout the progress even if its decades in the coming. This is however, a wonderful breakthrough and I hope to hear updates as the years unfold.. Anti-aging of our brains.. and other organs alone shows countless benefits.

This isn't about debunking future scenario's. It's about debunking illogical concerns.

it cracks me up to hear people say things have been extensively debunked its probably one of the dumbest things i've ever heard since nothing most especially future scenarios can never be proven one way or the other points of view are all valid regardless of how ludicrous.

Isn't that the exact same post you posted on Reddit?

http://www.reddit.com/comments/6xg1f/scientists_have_stopped_the_ageing_process_woohoo/c054o8p

I can't help but feel you're simply abusing my blog to link to your web design company, but since your post actually addresses the content of my blogpost, I will reply anyway.

The arguments you come up with are nothing new and have already been extensively debunked, so I'll just leave you with this link:

No Woohoo about it... Stopping the aging process would mark the end of human civilization... either A) Everybody has access to the cure in which case the population explodes and the ecosystem collapses when the number of mouths to feed exceeds the ability of the planet to produce food, or B) Only a few have the cure and the rest use any means necessary to get it for themselves. I suppose the cognoscenti could try keep it secret however intrepid Reddit readers have the proven ability to see the truth behind any conceivable conspiracy so their efforts would be doomed, and, as a result, civilization would be doomed. Mull *that* over, truthers.
